Fuel Type: The fire is in a burn scar and is consuming brush and dead-and-down and dead-standing logs left over from the previous fire.
Fire Update: Crews completed a handline around the 2.5-acre Peppin Canyon Fire. A handline is a fireline built with hand tools. They are commonly constructed in wilderness areas where heavy equipment like bulldozers cannot access. The fire did not grow significantly overnight. Today crews will set up portable pumps and will use a nearby water source to extinguish burning material around the perimeter of the fire.
You can expect a final update on the Peppin Canyon Fire tomorrow mid-morning unless there is a significant change.
